Friday Bookish Buzz: Bookaholics Unite

see more Lolcats and funny pictures
Over the last week or so, there have been controversies and hurt feelings among some book bloggers (or lit bloggers if you prefer). But with the Kanye Wests and Stephen Harpers (see below) of the world, us book people need to remember the books. It's the books people!
Let's take a look at the world of books this week.
*"Hi, I'm Chris and I'm a Bookaholic. It's been 7 minutes since my last book." A real condition or a marketing ploy?
*And you thought Agatha Christie was a prolific writer when she was alive.
*Yann Martel hears from PM Stephen Harper- sort of.
*Last week, we had book cakes, this week book cupcakes! Yum-yum! The Hungry Caterpillar is so cute.
*Speaking of last week... The Millions writes an open letter to Kanye West.
*On the Twitter fence? Have a look at this.
*Dudes can write romance too.
*Etsy Love: An amazing piece of art/jewellery from COGnitive Creations.
Anyway people keep on reading!

If "bookaholism" is a marketing ploy then clearly I'm their target audience! LOL It's funny how this article kind of materialized at a time when a bunch of us on Twitter had been chatting about our bookish addictions. I don't think it spurned the conversation but it was just coincidence. Either way I think it's kind of a clever marketing ploy and certainly doesn't glorify or minimize addictive tendencies.
I have no words for Kanye West. Well I do but I don't want to be vile, crude or insulting so I'll just leave it at....I won't be supporting his book.
YUM cupcakes!
Great links! I laughed at the article on bookaholism. My hubby thinks I have it bad. I bought a book at the airport on the way home from BEA while lugging a huge tote bag full of books.
I've been a bookaholic all my life. It's also why I've always had big purses.
Great letter to Kanye West! I couldn't believe he'd said that - while promoting his book. Unreal.
Hercule Poirot? Nooo! Why not a lost Miss Marple?
You always pick mu favourite LOlcat of the week (or in this case, LOLbunny) for your Friday posts! One more reason to love them.
Bookaholism...pff :P Some see pathologies everywhere these days.
You say bookaholic, I say bibliophile. I like my addiction to have a respectable name :)
The bunny is adorable.
Book addiction . . . oh, dear. My poor jet-lagged husband wanted me to get some Mt. Dew for him and at the last minute he agreed to go along to the grocery store. Then, he said it would be fine if I wanted to stay in the car and read. Of course, I didn't bring a book. I had a brief moment of panic and then I thought, "Actually, I'm here to get the Mt. Dew for him, not to make him go into the store." So, the potential for panic passed.
Later, I remembered that I have an entire basket of books in the back seat of the car.
Looks like bunny needs a cupcake.
The Naked ones are my favorites.
Mmmmmm...bookahol.
I've been too busy to cruise the blogging circuit this week...what's all this about controversies and hurt feelings?
the letter to kanye was classic! lol! and the bookaholic bit was great. thanks for finding all these gems for me. :)
You always find the most interesting links!
This whole Kanye West thing has me thanking god that my kids don't like him - what a horrible role model :?
I'm sorry... when did we ever expect celebrities to do anything aside from spout inanities like the ones Kanye did? I mean, most celebrities could use a publicist 24/7 standing over them, telling them how to not sound stupid.
