About Me

I'm Chris, a stay-at-home Mom who loves to read, living in Nova Scotia, Canada. I'd love to read all day but being a mom makes that kinda hard. A good part of my day includes scrubbing something: the floors, the kid, the animals, the husband.

Some of my favorite genres: classics, literary fiction, historical fiction, suspense, and occasionally young adult and non-fiction. However, I've been known to cross genres if it really sounds interesting. I do not read 'inspirational' novels, poetry and hardly ever short stories.

I also like photography, scrapbooking and crochet.

About Reviews

I review just about everything I read on book-a-rama: books from my own collection, library books, bought books, books for my online book club and ARC (Advanced Readers Copies).

Most ARCs I review come from publishers or are part of organized book tours. I will sometimes accept books from authors or publishers who contact me (see Contact page). However, I'm picky. I have only so much time for reading. Don't be upset if I say no. I will not read self-published books. I have to be honest and say I'm unlikely to accept a pdf file or ebook. I do not have an e-book reader. Check out my Book Reviews from 2007 and 2008 for more of an idea of how I do things and what I like.

If I read your book, I'll give you a fair review. I can't promise that I'll love your book and rave about it. I'm committed to honest reviewing on my blog. However, I will be nice.

I will also try to review a book in a timely fashion- within a few months. If you have specific time frame in mind, please mention that in the email. If I'm unable to finish it, I'll label it as "Book Review (sort of)" and say why I didn't finish.
